His father, the famous Harivansh Rai Bhacchan had named him ‘Inquilab’. He was later renamed by Harisvansh Rai’s best friend at the time and fellow poet, Sumitra Nandan Pant. As for AB’s mother Teji Bachan, she belonged to a Sikh family and her name was Tejinder Kaur.

Who gave him the news that he got selected for his debut movie in 1969? None other than his brother Ajitabh! Interestingly, both the brothers’ names are Bengali in nature. Amitabh means the light that cannot be extinguished whilst Ajitabh means the sun, or the light you cannot conquer.
